Recording Mode
Normal Recording
When turned off, the dashcam does not record in normal (driving) mode.
Parking Mode Recording
If enabled, the dashcam switches from normal mode to parking mode when the vehicle is turned off (ACC+) or stationary for 5 minutes (G-Sensor). There are two parking mode options. Choose “Motion & Impact Detection” to save a parking recording when motion is detected in the dashcam’s field of view. If the G-sensor detects an impact/bump, the dashcam saves a separate event recording file.
Alternatively, if you choose “Time-lapse” the camera continuously records 1 frame per second and saves recordings that playback at 30 times normal speed. If the G-sensor detects an impact/bump, the camera saves a separate event recording file at normal speed for one minute and returns to parking mode recording.
Rear Camera Recording in Parking Mode
When turned off, the rear dashcam does not record in parking mode.
Interior Camera Recording in Parking Mode
When turned off, the interior dashcam does not record in parking mode.
Battery Protection (Hardwiring Power Cable Installation Only)
When the battery protection is on, power is supplied to your BlackVue while the vehicle is off (ACC+ off) and also prevents the vehicle from battery discharge while it is parked. When enabled, BlackVue will automatically power down according to the set cut-off timer and voltage.
Note:
• Recommended settings for low voltage cut-off is 12V or higher during winter.
– If battery protection is off, BlackVue will not operate when the vehicle is turned off (ACC+ off).
Motion Sensitivity
In Motion Detection Parking Mode, the dashcam continuously buffers video and saves a parking recording when motion is detected in the dashcam’s field of view.
You can adjust the sensitivity of the motion detection so minor motion caused by wind or rain doesn’t trigger a recording. Please take into account your vehicle’s surroundings when adjusting the sensitivity. You can also choose the detection regions to reduce the risk of triggering unwanted motion recordings due to trees swaying in the wind, far-away moving objects, etc. By default, all the regions are selected. If you want to ignore motion detection in particular regions, unselect them.

Event Triggers
Manual Recording / Driving Impact / Parking Impact Events
There are major types of event recording modes: Driving Impact, Parking Impact, and Manual.
Under each event type recording, a feature called Live Event Upload can be activated for the camera to save a copy of the event file into the Live Event Upload folder.
Manual Recording
- As the name suggests, this type of recording file is triggered manually. Through the touch sensor of the camera, Manual recording files (orange icons in the recording files list) can be created both while driving and when the car is parked. Touching or waving a finger within 20 mm from the sensor will activate manual recording.
Event Recording
- Event files (red icons in the recording files list) are recorded by the camera when an impact is detected while driving (or in Normal Mode). The camera will also record Event files while the car is parked (Parking Mode) if it detects an impact depending on how the user sets the event detection settings in the firmware. The camera will save the event file starting five seconds before an event is triggered. Exceeding the set speed limit will also trigger an event recording.
Sensitivity
The G-sensor measures the movement of your vehicle through 3 axes – up and down, side to side, and front and back. When the G-sensor detects significant or sudden movement (such as an impact or collision) it will trigger an event recording. You can adjust the sensitivity so minor incidents and bumps don’t trigger an event recording. To turn off event recordings by impact detection set the G-sensor sensitivity to off.
Event Files are further classified as follows:
- O (Overspeed) – an event file is recorded when the car exceeded the set speed limit
- A (Hard acceleration) – an event caused by sudden acceleration during normal recording mode
- T (Hard cornering) – an event caused by a sudden turn (curve) during normal recording mode
- B (Hard braking) – an event caused by sudden brake during normal recording mode
Protect Event Files
Turn on to protect the last 50 Event files from overwriting by Normal or Parking recording files.
Protected files include:
ㆍ Impact Events in Normal(E) and Parking Mode(I)
ㆍ Manual Events (M)
Once 50 Events are recorded, new Events will overwrite the oldest ones.

- The other for motion detection: Hand distraction
DMS detection
There are detection criteria for each event.
- Drowsy: When the driver’s eyes close for more than 1 second or yawns for 2 seconds, it will be detected as Drowsy.
- Distracted: Distracted occurs when the driver deviates more than 50 degrees from the front [Up & down, Right & left]
- Undetected: An undetected event occurs when the driver is not detected in front of the camera for a minute.
- Hand distraction: A hand distraction event occurs when the driver removes one hand from the steering wheel. [*Smoking and phone calls may be suspected.]
- Mask off: Mask off event occurs in two ways
- when the driver gets in the car without a mask
- when the driver takes his or her mask off while driving
DMS camera recording in parking mode
On: Normal recording works while power is maintained in parking mode
Off: DMS power off after 5 minutes when entering parking mode, Normal recording works until just before off
LED
