What is Live Event Upload?

    Follow

With Live Event Upload, your dashcam can save Event videos in real time to the Cloud. Not only does it start saving to the Cloud soon after impact but it also includes the 5-second pre-impact footage. If you are still not sure what it means, let’s break down the steps with an example:

Let’s imagine a setup with a BlackVue DR750X-2CH IR (with front and interior-facing cameras). Your car is parked, with your BlackVue hardwired and Parking Mode active.

    1. A thief breaks into your car: vibrations from the break-in are detected by the G-sensor (accelerometer) of the BlackVue dashcam.
      • The dashcam creates an Event file in full resolution (Full HD or 4K UHD, depending on the model) for each camera (front / rear / interior), which includes the pre-impact footage.
      • Simultaneously, the BlackVue records sub-streams, or lower-resolution versions of the videos.
    2. As the Event starts, the BlackVue starts uploading both sub-streams to the Cloud, where they are saved in real time: that’s Live Event Upload.
    3. Now, let’s imagine the thief notices your dashcam and disconnects it: the footage recorded up until that point will be safe in the Cloud!

Granted, car break-ins may not be the most common incidents. However, it’s easy to imagine how useful that feature is in more common cases as well, such as hit-and-runs.

[BlackVue App] Live Event Upload Settings

On the Cloud server, there are two types of file storage: BlackVue Cloud and Live Event Upload. BlackVue Cloud storage retains all the files manually uploaded from the SD card in your dashcam. If you turn on Live Event Upload, all the event files will be automatically saved in Live Event Upload Storage.

    New series: DR770X, DR970X, DR770X-2CH LTE, DR970X-2CH LTE, DR770X-BOX

    1. There are two ways to access the Camera settings.

1.a. Tapmenu button on blackvue app to reveal the submenu and click Camera Settings

1.b. Click the camera and tap the gear icon on the top right corner of the screen to access Camera Settings. Select Event Triggers.

    2.  Select Event Triggers. Each Event trigger has a Live Event Upload Setting.

    3. You have the option to turn on the Live Event Upload for each trigger. Event files will be saved to your Live Event Upload storage automatically.

    4. When a trigger is on, you can change recording settings per each event detected by the dashcam.

By default, only the Live Event Upload function of Priority Events (i.e. Manual Recording, Driving Impact, and Parking Impact) are on.

You can also activate the Live Event Upload for Reckless Driving (Speed Alert, Hard Acceleration, Hard Braking, and Hard Cornering).

Finally, you can choose the Live Event Upload Video Sources (Front, Rear, or Both).

For Older Models (X Plus, X, S series, etc.)

    1. Tapmenu button on blackvue app to reveal the submenu and click Camera Settings. Select Live event upload.

You can also tap the camera and press themenu button on blackvue app icon on the top right corner of the screen to reveal the same screen above (the rightmost image).

    2. Toggle the button to the right to activate the Live Event Upload. It is off by default.)

The event types will appear below Live event upload and you can choose which ones to activate.

    3. When Live event upload is on, you can change recording settings per each event detected by the dashcam. By default, only Impact detection and manual recording are on when the Live Event Upload is activated. Tap other events you want to automatically be uploaded to the Live event upload storage when they occur.

Since Live event upload is activated automatically by default, sending the video to the cloud may incur data charges through your cellular data or Wi-Fi.

The image above shows the Live Event Upload general setting for BlackVue dashcams. However, the DR750X-3CH Plus model (connectable to DMC100) has a slightly different setting. It has more Live Event Upload options which include Driver Monitoring System (DMS) triggered events from the interior camera facing the driver.
