Choosing the Right LTE Module (CM100GLTE) for your Dashcam

    Follow

Note: The CM100-LTE module was replaced by the CM100GLTE model, now with a built-in GPS module. This product is compatible with all X and X Plus series dashcams.

With X and X Plus Series, you can connect an LTE Connectivity Module (CM100GLTE) which is powered by the dashcam and provides 4G LTE connectivity for your dashcam. This allows you to connect your dashcam to BlackVue Cloud and receive notifications to your phone when your parked car gets hit. It also lets you remotely see what your dashcam sees in real-time. Being powered by the dashcam, you do not need to worry about the CM100GLTE running out of power as you might with a self-powered router.

Multiple versions: how to pick the right one?

The CM100GLTE takes Nano-SIM cards and comes in multiple variations: pick one that matches your location. Which version will work for you depends mostly on the LTE frequency bands supported by your local carrier(s).

USA, Canada: pick the NA version.
Europe, Africa, Middle-East, Russia, and most of Asia: pick the GL version.
Australia, New Zealand: choose the GL version.
         Japan: choose the GL version.
South America: NA preferably, with GL being usable in some countries.

CM100GLTE version Bands supported Main carriers
    NA (North America) B2, B4, B12

US: AT&T, T-Mobile; Canada: Rogers, Telus.

Preferred for most of South America except Brazil.

GL (Global) B1, B3, B7, B20 Europe: most of the main carriers. Suitable for Africa, Middle-East, Russia, Brazil, Asia. May be suitable for South America.

Use the LTE frequency band info to pick a model that runs on your carrier’s LTE network.

The reason we share the band information (B1, B2, etc.) is to let you double-check that the model you plan to get will work on your carrier’s network.

With a bit of research, you can find which bands are covered by your local carriers and get a Nano-SIM from a carrier that operates on the bands supported by your CM100GLTE model.

To recap, here is what you should consider picking your CM100GLTE:

    • Is my mobile network carrier operating on a band (B1, B2, etc.) supported by the dashcam?
    • Is there a carrier offering more affordable data plans?
    • Are there other network carriers in my country operating on those bands?
    • Am I planning to drive my car abroad? (In that case, consider a model that might cover multiple countries). Check this site for LTE band coverage data.
