What is the proximity sensor, touch sensor, and SOS button?

    Follow

The proximity sensor is located on the side of the front camera, next to the WiFi icon for older models (refer to the image below).

With the exception of the DR750LW-2CH, DR590W Series, and DR590X Series, all the BlackVue dashcams with a built-in WiFi module have a proximity sensor.

The table below shows the functions of the proximity sensor according to different camera models.

    Camera Model Function
    DR650GW Legacy Firmware (Non-Cloud): Audio Recording ON/OFF
    Cloud Firmware: Manual Recording trigger
    DR650S Default: Audio Recording ON/OFF
    Option 2: Manual Recording Trigger

    DR750S Series

    DR900S Series

    Default: Audio Recording ON/OFF
    Option 2: Manual Recording Trigger
    Option 3: OFF (Disable)

    DR750X, DR750X Plus Series

    DR900X, DR900X Plus Series

    DR750 LTE Series

    Default: Audio Recording ON/OFF
    Option 2: Manual Recording Trigger
    Option 3: OFF (Disable)

The proximity sensor was replaced by the touch sensor for the following camera models:

    • DR770X Series
    • DR970X Series
    • DR770X LTE Series
    • DR970X LTE Series

The touch sensor can either be disabled or enabled to trigger Manual Event recordings.

The DR770X BOX camera series has a wireless SOS button instead of the proximity or touch sensor that triggers Manual Event recording when pressed.

The SOS Button should be registered to the main camera unit upon installation.
