I agree. With the rain sensor on the front windshield, I have to mount the camera to the right. One of the reasons I chose the Blackvue DR650S-2CH is because it advertised 360 rotation - but that is misleading if only 180 degrees are usable for an upright picture! The option to invert the image exists for the rear camera, it should also exist for the front camera! Inverting the image (including the text) during playback is not acceptable.
Please make this a priority, or will have to return the unit as 'not suitable for purpose'.  Thank you.

I agree. I too have to mount the camera off to the right because of rain sensor.

    Hello Carsten and Roman,

Your suggestion has been forwarded to the concerned departments for consideration and possibility of implementation in upcoming firmware updates.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Dear Taqi,

thanks for your response! I am still closely monitoring any firmware-updates for this feature to show up - and are very happy now that there might be an improvement to expect.

    Great!

    best regards
    Carsten

I move my blackvue from one vehicle to another twice a day.  I'm in Canada and we have the drivers seat on the left hand side.   If I mount the camera in the conventional way that puts the power and rear camera plug-in on the passenger side of the vehicle, and I can't see them to plug into them.   This is not workable, and so I have mounted the camera in effect upside down.  Like others, this puts the speed and location information upside down even if I rotate the picture.  It would sure be great to see the software updated so that this can be rotated/flipped.

    Thank you

    Otherwise really enjoyed my blackvue.

+1 please for the flip view. As fitment in the U.K. puts the body of the camera in conflict with the rear view mirror, when using a right hand drive car.

    Jake, Blackvue-Team -

why don't you realize these _real_customer_demands&requests_ as to be ssen above into your firmware on a short term? The flip-option is already there for the rear-view-cam, my "alternative" firmware for the DR500 had it - i assume it might be a kind of flag to be set on the daemon, who is doing the handling on the linux-os inside the cam, so only the ui-switch/setup is missing the option.

dont follow your marketing-guys and make a pause putting something noone-really-needed-it like this facebook-online-streaming into your gadgets, but PLEASE enable a setting to flip the front-video as its REALLY NEEDED! PLEASE!

Is this happening any time soon?

I've purchased this camera but in my Volvo S40 I can only neatly mount the camera at the right side of the mirror (upside down)
If I can't flip the video (which is possible with my old dashcam (INNOVV C3) ) I can only return the camera and get my money back.

    Please make this happen asap.

    * I have decided to return the camera and will reconsider buying this or another model if and when the firmware has been updated with this feature.

Here's my ditto, if it does any good. My camera is mounted on the right of the rearview mirror because that's the only place it can go, and I'm just living with upside down video.

It would be cool to know if this is never going to happen - i.e., if it's technically impractical. If so, I need to do something else.

This is still a problem. Their workaround - to invert the image in the viewer during playback - is stupid. Doing that inverts the rear view as well, so either one image or the other is upside-down. The only option, then, is to have the rear camera invert the image (using the firmware option that we need on the front camera!), and have BOTH images upside-down. Then they can be viewed in the player re-inverted, so the image is correct and only the text is upside-down.

However, when you "Export" the file - it does not retain these settings and your video is upside-down. Just tell the judge to stand on his head while viewing the evidence. I'm sure he'll love that!

I'm afraid I cannot recommend Blackvue cameras.

    Dear Customers

Your suggestions are very valuable to us and its already in  pipeline to include front camera flipping function it in the upcoming dashcams and firmwares but it could take some time to implement  due to  extensive quality control tests before launching a new feature.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

@Noman: So when is this functionality coming? It takes too long for simple updates like this. Do you have a plan date when the new firmware release will be coming out?

Extremely disappointed this feature doesn't exist. I installed my dash-cam only to find the video upside down for every video. You have the feature for the rear camera, shouldn't be hard to add it for the front camera. I can flip the video when watching it on playback, but (a) that is a pain to do every time and (b) the date/time/speed/etc... will be upside down then. Please add this feature ASAP.

Agree with the statements above. Basic feature which was requested a year ago already and still not implemented in the recent 1.008 firmware released today :(.

Hello, has there been any progress on this?  we really need the ability to flip/rotate image via software/firmware settings in the camera. All competitors have this feature.  It's been over a year since this has been requested....  Could you please update on where the development of this feature stands?

Hello everyone. I have the DR650S and in the the latest firmware release v1.012 the app has a setting under "Settings gear button > Firmware settings > Basic settings > Recording settings" a new front camera flip (or rotate) option called "Front Camera rotation". When ON, facing forward (Blackvue Cloud Full HD text is displayed correctly (power on right), the display is inverted (flipped or rotated). When OFF, facing forward, the display is inverted. The "Rear camera rotation" has existed in the past firmware releases, but the front option is NEW. This new option is in the DR650S release notes too.

The v1.012 firmware "Front camera rotation" option is NOT in the "latest" manual: Manual_DR650S-2CH-EN_WEB_Ver.1.00.pdf.
