Cannot change the Firmware settings or reformat the SD

I cannot change the settings or reformat the SD card since I upgraded to Firmware 1.007

 I took the following steps:

1) I re-downloaded the firmware 1.007

2) I re-installed the firmware

3) Went into firmware settings

4) Noticed the location hadn't changed like it normally does.

5) Tried to change the parking motion setting to zero

6) Got a message to say cannot change settings try again later

7) Unplugged Blackvue to reboot it.

8) Tried to change the settings again, same result.

9) Did a forced format on the SD card by holding the button on the camera

10) Got all the right messages from the camera about reformatting and do not disconnect.

11) Powered it up again.

12) I can still see all my recordings, the card hasn't been wiped, All settings still the same.

13) Tried changing a setting, same result, Cannot change settings try again later.

14) Removed and reinserted SD card

15) Tried again, no joy.

16) uninstalled and reinstalled the Blackvue app on my phone

17) Tried to change a setting again, no joy.

So the status is the Blackvue is working, making recordings, but I can't change any settings or reformat the SD card.

    Okay, I managed to reformat the SD card on the next attempt.

    Since then I've tried to re-install firmware 1.007 and it goes through all the motions but I don't think it's actually doing anything, because the settings are still set to Europe/London each time.

    I still cannot adjust any settings, I can't change the recorded speed to MPH and I can't set parking motion detection to zero.

    Each time, and I have tried many times, it says it cannot update the settings.

    Are your problems confined to reformatting and reconfiguring using the camera and the WiFi App?  
    Have you got a suitable PC-based SD card reader?  
    If so, take the card out of camera and reformat it in the reader with the Windows Viewer (or FAT32 using Explorer).  You could then download the v1.006 firmware and copy that to the card.  At this stage you ought to be able to make settings changes via Windows Viewer >> Settings > Firmware on the card.
    When you put the card back in the camera, it ought to downgrade to v1.006 automatically and restart with your settings.

    If you don't have a card reader slot on your PC then I advise that you get a USB Card Reader off Amazon (if your PC has a USB 3.0 port it be a good idea to get one compatible with that ... it will be faster for copying files to and from the hard drive).

    In my experience, reformatting the card externally always seems to sort out the camera.

    If I buy a card reader it will be the only time I ever use it. Can I work with it in my android phone connected to the pc?

     

    I managed to reformat it in the camera, but it still wont let me adjust the settings.

     

    It was working fine on V1.006.

    If your phone is a Samsung ... you should be able to transfer files and format the card via Samsung KIES on a cable connection (make sure it is being formatted as  FAT32). However, the Samsung can misbehave at start up with a different SD card if you have previously migrated Android apps to the card that you have now taken out. Otherwise, it will depend upon the Phone Manufacturer's Android Driver you are running on the PC.

    BTW, did your DR650S not come supplied with a small plastic USB SD Card Reader? It was in the pack with the spare adhesive pads ...

    No, mine was fitted by Halfords and I didn't get any gadgets other than what was fitted.

    Okay, I picked up a micro SD card adaptor and FAT32 formatted the SD card on my Windows 10 pc.

    Tried it out this morning and everything is working fine and I can adjust the firmware settings.

    The question remains why did I have to go out and get a card reader and why didn't the camera format the SD card properly in the first place?

    No problem David.  

    At the very least I think the UK Retailer/Installer Halfords should have given you this (together with the spare adhesive pads for the cameras) ...

    ... why not ask them for replacements?

    Hi David,

    You might find that now the camera has been properly updated on firmware v1.007 ... it will again be capable of formatting the SD Card correctly.

    No I never received an adaptor or adhesive pads. I don't really need it now as I have an adaptor that turns the Micro SD into a normal sized SD and goes straight into the slot in my laptop without using a USB port.
