Location not shown or updated on Blackvue viewer

Two days ago I had a brand new Blackvue DR650S-2CH installed. I upgraded the firmware to version 1.007. Everything works fine, except for the locator function on the maps which is used in the Blackvue viewer (Windows 7 Professional/Viewer version 1.11).

There is no difference when I use the viewer in combination with the USB card reader, or when all the files are being transferred to disk, the problem remains.

No matter what I do, I can't get the viewer to show my position.

What DOES work is the Cloud viewer, when my car is in parking mode.

When other dashcam viewers (like Datakam for example) are being used on the same files, there is NO problem with the location.

However, I would really like to use the Blackvue viewer, because it can show both camera images (front & rear) at the same time.

It seems to me that there is a structural problem with the viewer software?

I'm having the same issue with PC Viewer 1.11--- no GPS data in the map frame or the info line above the map frame. I have Google maps selected in the Settings for the SD card. Using DR470 & DR450

The Camera does show MPH. When exporting the MP4 files the GPS files are exporting.

I only recognized this issue after upgrading the PC Viewer to 1.11

Funny, I finally twigged that I was having this problem too. The 650S is notorious for losing GPS sync in the camera itself (many, many complaints on the Web about that). So I'm expecting brief periods of the map not updating in the viewer. But I noticed that the viewer wouldn't show anything for multiple subsequent recordings, even when I knew the blue light was on in the camera at the time. And when I looked at the actual .gps files, they had valid GPS data points.

I'm not convinced the problem was introduced in 1.10, because I downgraded and saw the same thing. But sometimes closing and restarting the app and starting to play the same recording will magically make the map update. I've been playing around to see if I can come up with a reliable steps-to-reproduce to pass along to BlackVue, but so far it seems somewhat random still. I can't see any way to enable any sort of logging on the viewer to collect any form of troubleshooting data. :-(

    Brad.
