Sloooooooow wifi transfers

Hi

I am new to dash-cams and the Blackvue, but after reading so many good reports decided I better have one to help protect my investment, my car.

the system seems to work as it should, aprt from one frustrating flaw, the download speeds if they happen between device and my Samsung S7.

I had two systems fitted to two cars at the same time and its really hit or miss if i can actually download a file or view it without major buffering; I don't believe that this is normal, so to all the experts out there, how do i fix this.

I have updated to the latest firmware, i have reduced the recording minutes to 1 for everything, I have even reduced the recording quality ( doesn't this defeat the object of buying a decent dashcam?)

please help.

    I had the same frustrating about this product, had the problem with both the cloud and wifi connection. After updating the firmware to 1.007 and recording minutes to 1. it got a bit better but still slow.

    I have both systems running the latest firmware.

    My fitter advised running the old legacy software, but since I have upgraded the firmware I cant do this as the system wont let me.

    Just seems such a pity that a supposedly great dashcam system is completely let down by one of the functions that apparently make it so.

    The wifi is just not fit for purpose.

    Come on Blackvue, this is apparently a known issue for android users. Wish I had known before buying.

    Dear Customers

     Thank you for choosing blackvue and our apologies for the inconvenience.

    Can you please check the download speed with another phone, preferably iphone to see if the issue persists? Also please make sure that while downloading the files, you are in the vicinity (10 meters ) of the camera.

    If the issue still persists, please connect the SD card to your computer, backup the recordings and format the SD card in FAT 32 format in blackvue PC viewer which should fix the issue.

    Hi Gareth,

    The DR650S-2CH spec states that the Built-in WiFi is 802.11 b/g/n.

    Assuming that you are connecting on 802.11g that will give a theoretical maximum of 54 Mbps =  6.75 Mb/s.

    The largest 1 minute video files I see in the Record Folder are 155 Mb in size.

    So the fastest single WiFi transfer ought to be 155 / 6.75 =    23 seconds for I minute of video (approx).

    I know it is a pain to take out the card, but transfers using a USB 3.0 port and reader on a laptop are much faster.

    Why would you assume I am on "g"?

     

    The device is capable of N speed, my device is capable of N speed, i have made the suggested change to the config file, not sure why this is switched by default ( seems to be a shortcoming). theoretically therefore it should be 3 x faster running at 150Mps, which with my estimation should equate to a 1 minute video file being downloaded at approximately 8-10 seconds, or am I missing something.

    I would be quite happy if it took 23 seconds to download a file, but it freezes out. Watching becomes near impossible due to buffering. 

    To sum up, real life experience. I leave my car in a parking lot. return after a number of hours, The dashcam informs me once driving off, that a impact has occurred, Now I have to go home to sift through all the files to find the one where it happened. Trying to do that while out and about, would be futile and frustrating to say the least. This makes parking mode useless.

    If I have a impact whilst driving at least i can make a note of the time, so that when i get home i can download the file and save it for evidence. Now what happens if I cant get home to my PC, as I might be away? I have to remove the card to prevent overwrite.

    Please tell me where I am going wrong or that the dashcam has lived up to my expectations having spent approximately £1000 on two systems for both my cars?

    A Further update

    I have no access to an Iphone, I have a Samsung S7 and my wife has the same. I have no problem streaming music and movies from my home server to both phones, inside or outside my own network.

    ( Are you affirming that there might be a problem with android and compatibility with the Blackvue system? I see no reference to this on your web site)

    I have reformatted both cards, no difference. perhaps I should decrease the quality to minimal? defeating the object of buying the blackvue camera.

    Sorry I did not know the max speed of your phone ... it would be as you say for a "n" protocol connection (without any other WiFi traffic).

    You appear to have your three parking sensors set at 80.  This would detect you closing the door when you enter the car.  You could try lowering these settings?

    Agreed this is a shortcoming of the system with a small 16Gb card.  I get round this by having two 128Gb cards.  One card will suffice for a round trip from the North East of England to the South East (about 650-700 miles). I then swap over when I get back.

    I appreciate the input, the config file you refer to is not mine, it belongs to the poster, Claus.

    My settings are right down at 25 in parking mode for movement and 40 across the board on everything else.

    I have a 64Gb card installed which should be good for about 17hrs moving and parking. Great for popping down to the shops with the wife, but If I am on the road for work, unless the system could auto save impacts

    My Time limits are 1min each and I have reduced the setting from highest to High, any lower and I might as well have bought a Nextbase

    Hi.

    I'm from Russia. Sorry for the bad english.

    I have a DR650S-1CH. Last versions of smartphone software and dashcam firmware.


    The same problem with copying files to a smartphone on Android 7 (my main smartphone). No speed at all. When I try to view, solid buffering, no video.

    With the smartphone on Android 6 (my second smartphone) everything is fine, files are copied to the smartphone quickly enough (from 1.2 to 2.4 Mbps). View of video on smartphone is OK, there is no buffering.

    I think that the problem is in the software for the smartphone, which was not tested for android 7. Very bad.

    If that's the case, it does not bode well, Considering Android Oreo has arrived and the software has not been developed for the current version. All Blackvue advise is to test it with a Iphone.

    No problem If I had one or knew someone who had one, unfortunately everyone I know has a android phone or a windows phone.There again I cant find anywhere on their website or the box that states "Will work with Apple but may not work with Android"

    And now they have just released their latest version cameras I doubt we shall see improvement here.

    I still hope that the manufacturer knows the sales statistics for iphone and android in the world. And that the manufacturer is sent to our complaints about problems specifically on android 7.
    I tomorrow will try to check for android 4 and 5 (found such smartphones in the "home warehouse" :) ). And I'll try, if I have time, ask my friend to test on the iphone (but I do not know what kind of version it has).

    Hi

    I tried DR650S-1CH with smartphones on Android 4, 5, 6 and 7.
    It was not possible to check the performance with the iPhone.
    On Android 4, 5 and 6, there are no problems, everything works correctly and quickly, on Android 7, when the files are being viewed, there is a constant buffering. When I try to download a file to your smartphone, nothing happens, 0% for 2-3 minutes. Then the patience ends.

    On the advice of Shehroze, formatted the memory card in the program Blackvue Viewer 1.11 on Windows 7. There is no improvement.
