Grainy Video

Greetings,

I've just gotten the DR750S-2CH.I have been looking at other peoples night time or low light videos and  from the DR650, and the are all crystal clear. All of my night time or low light videos look extremely grainy. I wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing this, and if so, were you able to adjust something to fix it, or is my camera defective? I've already reached out to support and so far they have been no help.

Thanks in advance

Craig

    Hello Craig

This doesn't seems a defect in the dashcam. There could be two possibilities for the difference in quality.

    1. The lighting conditions in both the situations are different.

    2. Night mode of DR750S is tuenced on.

Please note that when the night mode is on in DR750S, the camera brightens up the image in which the noise is inevitable which looks like the case in this scenario. With more light during the night, there will be less noise ofcourse.

Hope this explains the situation. If you are still unsatisfied with the conditions, please send us a sample video at cs@pittasoft.com for further investigation.

    Thank you

    Norman,

The thing is, the 650 image has less lighting than my 750 and the picture looks crystal clear. It makes no sense that the older camera would look so much better at night. In your number 2 option, what is tuenced? Was that supposed to be turned? I do have enhanced night mode on, but in your advertisements the images look as clear as the 650. Not grainy/noisy. I sent the camera back for a replacement, but am still getting the same results. I did not have the wires removed from my car. Could a pinched cable cause this noise, or a faulty Power Magic Pro? I find it really frustrating that my $50 3yr old dashcams night images look 10 times better than this $400 supposedly state of the art dashcam, and I can't get any real answers as to why.

    Hello Craig

May i know which firmware are you using in the new DR750S? If you are using the 1.000 firmware, please upgrade to the latest 1.001 firmware in which the noise is reduced .

My apologies, i mean to say *turned on. Moreover you suggestion to enhance night mode recordings is noted and forwarded to our planning team for an update in the upcoming firmware.

    Thank you

Norman, or whom ever is in charge, as you can see, this post is a month old, and all I have gotten are excuses with no results. Why have you, or anyone been answering my emails? I tried calling the number at the bottom of the site, but I don't speak Korean, so that got me no where. It's really ashamed the way you treat you customers.

    Hello Craig

My apologies for the delay in response. I thought your issue has already been dealt with. The noise during night vision is a trade off with the camera's visibility during extremely low light conditions. so if there is some light in the surroundings during night time  please turn off the night mode which will fix the issue. Moreover we are working on a new firwmare expected to be released soon in which the night vision is enhanced.

Thank you for your patience and understanding

hi,  i've noticed that my rear camera looks fuzzy/grainy in low light.   i have enhanced night mode set and brightness on 2 (front and rear).

here's an example video.    some videos have so much static it almost looks like its snowing.

did you ever get this resolved?

EDIT:  resolved in link below.  turned off enhanced night vision.

    Norman,

I see that there was a recent firmware update. I installed it. However, this must not be the update you were referring to, because my night images have not changed, Is there a time frame for this update?

    Hello Craig

Yes, this upgrade doesn't affect image quality. I am afraid, currently we don't have a time frame for the update but we will let you know through blackvue newsletter if there is any.

    Thank you

I also am experiencing the same grainy video quality. I have updated the firmware to the latest (1.002) with no improvement at all. I also turned off the night vision enhancement, hoping it would reduce the noise, but that did not help either. I agree with Caulford. A cheap camera would do a much better job and would cost a fraction of this piece of junk. Even dr650 is much better than the newest model.

Is Blackvue going to do something about this, or just want to go with the “Trade Off” comment?

one more thing, the front camera is not a brag either as the much older models have much more clear image of the licsence plates.

This is ridiculous!!  This dash cam was advertised with this as a FEATURE!!

    • Full HD 1080p Sony STARVIS™ sensor, for improved image quality even in low-light conditions
    • Framerate doubled! 60FPS "Sport Mode" setting available for fluid-like videos packed with detail
    • Event File Overwrite Protection: turn this new option on to protect up to 50 event files from being overwritten
    • Adaptive Format-Free File Management: improved recording stability and reduced need for periodic microSD card formatting
    • Scheduled Reboots in Parking Mode: enable this option to improve system stability. Like any computer user knows, regular reboots are never a bad idea to keep things running smoothly

but yet here we are with this being an issue still.

    FALSE ADVERTISING????

Here we are July 2018, 6 MONTHS LATER and its still a problem!!

    WHAT IS THE PLAN???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
