Motion Detection in Parking Mode is too sensitive

I am finding that the slightest breeze moving branches of trees in the far distance is enough to trigger motion detection.  This is with the camera sensitivity at its lowest setting of 1 out of 100.   Even at the lowest sensitivity setting, the Parking Mode Recording is happening far too often (it is almost continuous).  I would like to be able to set the trigger level to relatively large objects in the foreground (vehicles or people within five metres of either camera).  Can the sensitivity range be adjusted in an update so that much lower settings can be achieved?

With great dissapointment I'm having the same problem.  I set the motion detection to 1 and seems to record constantly. This is not how the system is marketed!   If i switch it to 0 it records nothing.   When is this goint to be fixed?   I chose Blackvue for this feature.  It siply does not deliver!

Since I made my previous comment on this subject I have installed the updated firmware which Blackvue indicated would improve sensitivity issues in parking mode.

    No perceivable difference!!

I'm still within a month of the purchase and installation and now intend taking the car back to the retailer for removal and full refund.

    Hi Derrick,

To be fair to Blackvue their v1.007 firmware only promised to reduce the release time from Parking Mode to Normal Mode when you drive away.  In v1.006 this delay had increased which meant that the system was not recording the front view in Full HD until the Parking Mode was released.  The Blackvue v1.007 did fix this fault, but did not change the Parking Mode Sensitivity Range.  Hopefully, Blackvue will reduce the sensitivity in v1.008 (as everyone is now wanting).

It should be noted that whatever Blackvue do will be a compromise for customers.

If you park in a busy street or carpark the recording will be near continuous.  I just want to be able to filter out small movements by distant objects.

I regularly park in a multi-level city-centre car park, and I found that the rear camera had a view of a busy railway station below in the far distance.  Every passing train caused the system to record to the SD Card.  I know this to be the cause, as I tried using the Rear Camera Protective Lens Cap to stop the unwanted recording.  After that I only recorded cars and people passing in front of my vehicle and there were now significant gaps in the recording.  However, I bought this system to get Front and Rear Protection in Car Parks ... so the only fix is to provide a much wider range of sensitivity adjustment.

Yes a fix blackvue make the camera sensitivity to within e feet if someone or something is within that range of camera then they will hit or by doing damage to your vehicle also found sometimes hard connection ting to wifi can this be addressed in the next firmware also instead of 1 to 100 in sensitivity maser in feet shows people or gives them the option to mark how far they want the camera to record

This is BS - even sitting in our garage - all night long on the LOWEST setting, even set to ONE, this stinking camera gives "MOTION DETECTED" notices "ALL-NIGHT-LONG". You would think there is a circus full of monkeys the way this thing is detecting motion -  when there is absolutely ZERO motion. It's almost like blackvue company is trying to piss off their customers. Whoops!!  ...  there goes another notice .... even as I post this. How pathetic whoops there goes another one. I am so disgusted.

Thanks for nothing blackvue - other than robbing us of $400 + $100 for the install.

I have the SAME issue. Very disappointed in my BlackVue and will certainly not be recommending it as a potential product until some major items like this are resolved. For now, I find that feature virtually useless until resolved. It has run the battery in my car down due to it's continuous recording. I have to unplug power to ensure my car starts if parked for more than a day. Come on BlackVue - this can't be that hard! Take a look at home security products which detect movement and record camera movements. They work beautifully, and so can BlackVue if they direct some serious resources at the issue. As it is, my other vehicle will be getting another product which boasts the same capabilities. I'll compare/contrast between them. If it works better, I may replace my BlackVue and sell it second hand...

Blackvue needs to tell its customers whether this problem can actually be fixed.

Parking Mode Motion Detection seems to behave more like a switch than a sensitivity setting.

    In other words  ....  0 = OFF and 1-99 = ON.

I have a similar  problem. I get 50-150 recordings during one evening + morning. There is absolutely no movement in the screen. I have tested it so that there is only garage door and sky showing but I still get almost constant recording. What triggers the motion recording is the frigging camera adjusting the brightness of the image. So it is basically triggering itself...! Sensitivity is at the lowest setting before turning it entirely off...

Customer service thinks that the camera is broken but I am pretty sure that it is a firmware problem.

Has anyone else had the same brightness-related recordings?

edit: camera model is dr450 1-ch

The only cure is to disable parking mode altogether by setting the sensitivity to zero. Otherwise your SD card will be continually over-written in a single night. It's about time Blackvue fixed this instead of releasing new models.

Turned mine down to 1 I was going to turn it off but didn't thought I would try setting 1. Thank God I did A large white van ran into my car whilst parked in ASDA, camera caught everything. Van driver drove off, another driver told me what had happened. I waited for the RAT he denied all knowledge wouldn't give details etc. Police informed recorded as a fail to stop Police following up.

I have a brand new 750S and get exactly the same problem.  The car is in a private garage in the dark - no movement and no vision disturbance.  Records constantly to disk.  I have Cell Link B battery so it fills the disk and wipes all my previous footage.  Only stops when the battery runs out.

Doesn't do what it says on the box so Australian Consumer Law says you must refund.  Does anyone from Blackvue actually read this stuff - I doubt it.  Either that or they don't care.

I just had a reply from Blackvue CS:

"We will work on a solution to decrease the sensitivity in DR650 series but it might take some time. For now we recommend you to park the car where there is no movement in order to avoid the unnecessary parking recording. Unfortunately, we don't have a policy of upgrading the dashcam to the newer version otherwise we would definitely have provided you the service"

"Some time" has already been seven months for me so ~I have no confidence this functionality will ever be fixed, and the upgrade to the DR750S wouldn't work even if they had the decency to offer it. How do I park in a public place where there is no movement?

I am seriously considering taking the DR650S-2CH and PMP back to Halfords to request a refund.

    Hi All,

Join the queue of many with this problem! -  in the end I've had to turn of the motion setting in parking mode,  otherwise it will just keep sending notifications every few minutes driving me crazy, even setting this to 1 or less is no good..

Point to note people: Turning the Motion sensor off in parking mode (Motion detection only), will not affect the Parking mode G force sensor, which you should leave on in case of collision or shopping trolleys hitting the car etc. - there are two separate settings for adjustment in parking mode

"Yes I hear you say, you shouldn't need to do that, but until Blackvue come up with a fix, some time never! this seems the only way forward.

    Hope that makes sense..

this wont help you get a vandal on tape who scratches your car.

what is about 80% of the most peeps buying this kind of cam.

sinds there is just an firmware update released sinds 27-11-2017 it is obvious BlackVue is not intended to fiks this issue.

what wil bring me to the decision of bringing it back to the store with the complaint it is broken AND don´t works as it supposed to do

this is the only reason wy they don't look in to it because we ain't sending them back wat is not working on a grand scale.

I've got the same problem with my DR750S-2CH just purchased a few weeks ago which I've upgraded to the latest (November) firmware after turning all parking sensitivity (G-mode and the other one) to 1.

Just to confirm - I turn off Parking sensitivity to 0 and leave G-Mode sentitivity (parking) turned on and I should stop seeing this?

I've got the large storage card (128GB) so I'm hoping that means that even an event file will not be produced by motion that I'll still be able to go back through a day or so's footage anyway?

Can i ask if your still having the same issues, just brought the new 900 series and it keeps detecting movement when a bird flies by, does this until the battery level gets to the cutoff on the power pro, want the unit to only come on if there is an impact on the car not when a bird flies by, i have also turned off a lot of the areas it monitors as this is available on the 900 and still it keeps going off.

    Same problem still with 450.

You might want to turn off motion detection when in parking mode.

Come on blackvue sort this out its happening on all your products set motion detection to distance of a few feet on both cameras this will minimise false alerts cameras of less than 50 pounds do a better job than yours which cost hundreds of pounds role out a new software update asap on all models to address this issue once and for all

Just turned it off, only really want impact recording to be fair otherwise it will be a nightmare in a car park as it currently is.

BlackVue is off my list of dashcams. This has been 2 years and counting. There are other products that handle this issue without begging from a fix of this manufacturer.

I would have thought after two years this issue would and should have been resolved, they do not mention this issues or anything like this o any video or adverts they show as being an issue.

We too, are thoroughly disgusted with blackvue's complete lack of support. Almost, false advertising -  that they call it "support".  "Turn it OFF?!?"  But we paid DEARLY for this feature, and it's MISSING. I hope some bottom feeding attorney does a class action lawsuit for this giant fail that they call, "motion detection".

If anybody reads these threads, please - please -  please, only by your camera from Costco. That way when you find that it is a total fail, between motion detection, &  overheating way too quickly, you can take it back even beyond their very puny warranty -  which will force blackvue to do what they should have done years ago -  namely -  fixing their expensive / defective product properly.

We are unloading our Tesla Model X &  leaving the 2 channel blackvue in it - since it's not worth taking out. That will get some value out of it as a selling perk.  We get to advertise that it has this expensive 2 channel  camera in it ...  though I feel sorry for the poor slob who buys the car,  once they discover what junk our blackvue really is.  GOOD - one more person feeling the pain of spending too much, for too little.
