B-112 Battery Pack

Excellent piece of kit.  The recharge rate is phenomenal.

Has anyone connected this to a supply controlled by a Magic Pro Unit.  I was wondering if Parking Mode could be extended considerably over time by using such an arrangement?

I was hoping that the B-112 Unit would be kept on charge until the Power Magic Pro upper vehicle battery voltage trigger was reached, then the B-112 would take over powering the DR650S-2CH.  Is the B-112 charging circuit designed to work in this way?

    Hey there!

That is the same though I have.

I would be curious to if combining the PMP and B-112 would make the dashcam stay on for a considerable time too.

I'm thinking the same way. Have you tried this?

I got the following message from the customer support:

    ---

I am sorry PMP and PMBP can't work together.

The technical reason it can't be connected together PMP takes only 2AMP volts from the car's battery and Battery pack need 12volts to starts charging.

    ---

I still do not understand why they compare 2APM and 12V. I guess that PMP does not supply enough current to start PMBP being charged. The camera may works longer while ACC OFF, but PMBP is not enough charged while ACC ON.   It seems that they do not work as we expected.

I was also interested in this setup (or rather PMP + B-124 setup). The answer from Customer Support pointed our to me what is the reason they do not list this configuration as possible.

    The answer is easy:

    - PMP is designed to forward OR cut-off car battery power to dash cam system which consumes low current during any type of operation,

    - PMP lists 1A as supported current with Max 2A of current,

    - B-112/B-124 have "two currents"  - different one is served to dash cam itself (the same as PMP is "forwarding" from car battery) AND second one which is taken by B-112/B-124 during its charging, very fast/aggressive charging which is 6,5A for B-112 and 5A/9A for B-124 depending on switched "Low/High" option,

    - this is the reason PMP can no drive B-112 or B-124 as we all dreamed about - PMP can not 'forward' 5A/6,5A/9A from car battery to charge B-112/B-124 :(

But as electronic engineer I will look into PMP similar solution (ready/custom build one) OR I will modify PMP just to let it handle 9A forward current.
This should be relatively easy modification and I am pretty sure BV will come up with "PMP Ultra" soon by just updating max current this smart box can "forward" :)
