Blackvue 590W

Hi. Having trouble connecting above camera wifi to a Sony  XperiaXA1 phone running Android 7. Have tried all work arounds and none work. It either comes up as "Disabled or Authentication Problems. Have just tried it with a Sony Z1 running Android 7 and that has the same issues. It works fine on my Sony Xperia Tablet running on Android 6. Also fine on wifes iphone 5 and and both of her Apple Tablets. Any help on this matter or is is a firmware fix !!!

    Hello Peter

Please try the following troubleshooting and see if it helps.

    1. Turn off the smart network switch in the wifi settings of the phone.
    2. Turn off the phone data LTE or 3G and try to connect.

If the issue still persist, please let us know the exact error which he gets for further troubleshooting.

    Thank you

    Hi Norman

I have tried this workaround in fact I think I have  tried every  workaround going, all to no avail !!!!!  It's very annoying as the wifi option on this camera was why I chose it. So at the moment I will have to lug around my Sony Xperia tablet or hope my wife is in the car to use her iPhone, For a DashCam which is not cheap I would have thought Blackvue would have sorted out these issues before it was put on sale.I hope a future firmware update will sort these issues.

    Update 18/4/2018

My phone has just been updated to Android 8 and now the files download to my phone but the phone will not play them. It just comes up "Buffering" and then after a couple of minutes a message says "Can not play video files" What is going on? This is my second Blackvue Dash Cam and possibly my last !!!!

    Hello Peter

     Our apologies for the inconvenience.

This seems to be an issue with the phone and not the firmware of dashcam. Due to myriad of cellphones in the market, specially Android, its difficult to test the compatibility since every Android device has a few variations in software. I am glad that now your phone be connected to the device.

Some phones cannot play 60 fps files due to a limitation in their video player. Please lower the fps in camera settings to 30 and see if it fixes the issue.

Let us know if the problem persists.

    Thank you

    Unsavory Character

Just got the same 2ch cam
Same probs here, I am connected to the cam's wifi, but the app wont connect or barely (1 out of 100 tries)
Google Pixel (original) and Android 8.1.0
There is no smart network settings on my phone that I am aware of (that was for older versions of android)
When connecting to wifi I saw a an android popup saying something to the effect of network has no internet connectivity, I clicked ok and it allow the app to connect 1 or 2x. I havent't seent he popup since
I have not forgot the network and tired again
There is a setting to connect to mobile data w hen internet is not avail via wifi (that allowed to connect 1x)
My ipad can connect (I understand only 1 device at a time)
A friend's Motorola android can connect (android 7.0), she saw similar popup, I haven't spent much time tinkering w her phone and cam
    FW V 1.0 on cam
    App v 2.72
    Please fix this, thanks

    Unsavory Character

    Hi, I found the workaround
    - Forget the wifi network
    - Rejoin the blackvue wifi (enter pass)
    - A few seconds after joining, you should see a notification on top bar related to the wifi saying something like network has no internet, tap here for options
    - Tap on this, and in the dialog box , check the box that says something like "dont ask this again for this network"
You'll only see this notification dialog once, so if you miss it, you'll have to forget the network and start over
(I also didn't see a way to toggle it in the wifi options for this particular network or generally
    - you should now be able to connect consistently from the app to the cam (on the equip listed in prior message)
(Changing the network wifi advanced setting to connect to mobile data when internet not avail seems to make no difference, so I left it on

The workaround described for "Unsavory Character" worked for me and my Essential PH-1 which is running Android 8.1. Blackvue would do well to include this information in their documentation.
