DR750s-2ch unable to connect via wifi with Samsung Note9 - but can with Galaxy S3

Yes, I know there is lots on this - and I have trawled a fair bit, but I have not found an answer to this specific problem. Title says it all.

I have tried all of the following

Reformatted the SD card, disabled the auto logon (supplier said this can cause some issue with lost connectivity as the handset tries to find an internet connection), direct WiFi connectivity (the Blackvue is never 'seen'). Clearly this is an issue with one or other, but why? Its not as if the Android is the latest version on the Note 9, its the previous version (8.1.0)

As both companies are Korean, I am really surprised that this is happening. Anyone any advice on how to get the two to talk?

    In your phone connection Wi-Fi settings turn off Smart Network Switch

    Thanks David, but there is no such setting in my phone.

    My Connection settings options are;
    Bluetooth - not relevant
    Phone Visability - off
    Flight Mode - off
    NFC etc - off
    Hot Spot + Tethering - off
    mble networks + location + sim card manager - all off

    Under More settings I have nothing wrt WiFi

    In WiFi direct I have;
    Turn on WiFi automatically - off
    Power Saving mode - off
    SecureWiFi - not setup
    Manage Networks - which is just the list of WiFi SSIDs
    WiFi control history - not relevant
    some WPS options
    Install network certificates - which I don't think is relevant.

    Any further ideas/suggestions?

    Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Connections > Wi-Fi.
    Tap the Menu icon  (upper-right).
    Tap Advanced.
    Tap the Switch to mobile data switch to turn off Smart Network Switch

    Already did that before my first post. I checked it all again just to be sure but it was already disabled. Any further ideas? As I said, my old S3 connects first time every time - but the new Samsung Note 9 refuses to connect.

    edit:
    As a further thought, I will contact Blackvue directly unless you or anyone else has any further ideas

    Try turning your mobile data off altogether

    I rarely have mobile data on at all, and it has been off the entire time I have been trying to get this to work. I appreciate the suggestions though - because I must be missing something ... at least I know I have tried the obvious :-)

    When I changed phones the app kept crashing on my new one when I tried to connect to the cloud. Wondering if this is a similar issue? Mine was solved by downloading the firmware to my new phone, then it would connect to the app, and then I could connect to the blackvue and re-upload the new firmware (even though it was the same version already installed).

    You could try that, just downloading the firmware to the phone seemed to enable the connection, even without installing it.

    Thanks again - but that didn't work either ... and the DR900S-2CH that I have just gotten back from installation in another vehicle is doiung the exact same thing - though I couldn't get any connection until I updated the firmware even on teh older phone.

    I have now placed the matter in teh hands of the importer who are investigating. As the phone is a new(ish) flagship model they will want to get this sorted. It seems Samsung has extended some functionality wrt to WiFi on this these latest handsets according to the person I spoke to, so they will likely need to sort it for future 'lower' spec devices too. They now have all the kernel, build etc information as well as all settings to be working off.

    We will wait and see I guess. At least I have a way of accessing ...

    In case anyone is interested, the 'issue' has been traced to a bug in the latest Android app. My thanks to the guys at BlackVue who have been very responsive and helpful in getting this identified and sending me the previous apk to try (and subsequently use until the app is sorted). Everyone has problems, but BlackVue's response to this issue has been all one could have really hoped for ... we done guys!
