I have the same problem. Power cable and battery seem to be working correctly but the DR900s-2CH will not power up regardless what I do. Please need help!

Apologies for reviving a dead thread, but I just experienced the same issue! Did either of you folks find a fix or were you forced to send it in for repair?

My problem resolved itself several months later. I had left the dead camera mounted in my window, and in June (on a very hot day) it suddenly powered up and has been working ever since.

Thanks for responding Michael! And that's incredible.... It had been cold here recently (not extremely cold, but 20-30s), I wonder if that had an adverse effect? Wonder if I should hold it under the heater for a bit and see if anything happens!

Did you happen to hear a mechanical whirring/humming sound coming from your unit when it was given power but wasn't recording?

I suspected that the cold caused some internal contact to disconnect, as mine died in winter, also. This winter I did not have any issues because I now park in a garage.

I never heard any sounds when it was not working, nor was there any heat being generated leading me to believe it was an issue with the AC power contacts. I can only guess that extreme heat resolved the issue, but it may have been a coincidence. I would be cautious about applying heat as a possible fix.

Looks like we might have a similar problem if the cam's both died in the winter. I appreciate your replies Michael! Hoping to find a solution soon...

Im in Florida and my camera just stopped working i didnt noticed until i tried to download a video and the app asked to connect to device. But i have tried changing the fuses , timer and unplugging the wires from the power box with no luck of it coming back on. Please help solve this problem.

My camera is doing the exact same thing.  The power just stopped for no reason.  The fuse in the power cable is fine.  The battery pack is fine.  Plugging it in directly does nothing.

I too have the same problem and I don't see any solutions here?  Are there no moderators on here?   I had bought 5 cheaper cameras on Amazon and they all still work perfectly.  The videos are not as good but the important thing is that they are working.

The one thing that is constantly on is the GPS light.  I don't get anything else.

the camera i have the the 900 2 channel.  it has the parking module that monitors the battery.  Was this a waste of my money?

I bought my camera through TheDashCamStore.com. I contacted them with the issue and they said they would take a look at the camera then send it to Blackvue in South Korea on my behalf if it needed repair as Blackvue is the only authorized place to repair them. Camera had some major issue (can't remember exactly, but they had to replace the entire board). I believe the repair/freight cost to and from South Korea about $75 total.

Mine has died but not in the winter, it is still generating heat but that's all no noises through the speaker, no wifi signals and no lights

Same issue with my 900p 2ch. Died today. Still generates heat, but doesn't turn on. Any advice would be appreciated.

Same issue with mine. I was fortunate enough that mine went down a week before the 1 year warranty was up, so the image sensor module and main board were replaced at no charge to me.

UNFORTUNATELY, it just happened again almost exactly a year later. I don't know about the first time, but this time it is making a whining/humming noise that someone else mentioned, and it is warm (temp outside is 64, and it's cloudy/no sunlight). No LEDs are lit on the front or rear camera, and the battery has power.

For $800, I was hoping to get more than a year of use out of a camera. And it's absurd that, unless I'm mistaken, no pittasoft employee has responded to anything on this thread. Goes to show they know it's a problem they're not willing to fix.

DR900S 2 ch and power magic ultra battery

My camera completely stopped working this morning.
A month ago SD card died.
Some time ago it started to reset itself while driving...
This device is about 1 year old.
    Any advice?

I just replaced it with the 900X, which has different power cables but can use the same rear setup and has the option for an LTE module so I don't need to figure out a hotspot situation

I have the same issue with my 900X-2CH connected to the Power Magic Ultra battery pack.  I installed the system earlier this year, so it's only about 6 months old.  I live in South Carolina, so my truck hasn't been exposed to cold temperatures in a while.  I see no lights and don't hear the camera making any sounds.  I'm very disappointed as I dropped nearly $800.

Has anyone ever found a solution to this (apparently) common issue?

Mine just died unfortunately. Noticed the little lady didn't tell me "blackvue for my safe driving" 😞

I have the 2 channel Dr900s. Camera heats up but doesn't make a sound or connect. Very disappointed.

Same thing just happened to mine this week. Also still heats up but no lights or recording.

My camera just came back from the service.
Main board and some other bits and pieces were replaced.
Everything was fixed under the warranty.
I'm very happy with the service. Touch wood quality of new parts is better.

Same here DR900S-2 Ch   about 9 months into this one and it has died.  Power to the unit, but does not power on.  Guess its off for warranty replacement.

Bart, how long did it take them to get it fixed and returned to you?

  • Bart

@Michael, I'm in Sydney and had to send it to Perth.
It took about 3-4 weeks to get it back. Fixing was quick, freight took a bit longer.

Bart, Thank you for your reply.  Had to ship it across country, California to New York first and now they told me they have to ship it back to Korea where the repairs are actually made.  They gave me an estimate of 1-2 months.  Then after it is repaired it goes back to New York and then back across the country.  I wouldn't be surprised if I don't see it again for 2 months.  A long time to wait for repairs.  For anyone wondering, this is out of warranty repairs and the cost is supposedly $89.  The authorized dealer told me that they will send me the invoice after the camera is repaired.

Hi Bart, sounds like mine is going through the exact same motions yours did before you sent yours off, however mine turns on for a second - enough for it to say "hello etc" before turning off immediately.

Did yours still do that or did it just refuse to turn on altogether?

I have mine connected to a PMP - battery on that unit is apparently full. So I don't think it's that. Only other variable is that I havent been driving my car consistently for a few months due to covid.

Never had any other real issues aside a SD card change. Who did you contact to complete the repairs if you don't mind? I'm Sydney based also.

Sad to see not one response from a moderator of such a reputable company.

    Hi Dave,
I know you asked Bart but if you contact Blackvue support they will give you some steps to do to try and resolve the issue like updating the firmware. If that doesnt work they will ask for your receipt and based on that give you the contact info for your distributor. Then you have to reach out to them and provide your receipt also.

Mine wasn't turning on at all but then when they tested it, it turned on for them but was acting up like yours.

Hello Dave! As Michael mentioned, we need to verify the point of sales of your camera since we have more than a hundred partners and resellers all over the world.

You mentioned that you are located in Sydney. If you purchased your camera locally, there is a huge possibility that your camera was distributed through our Australian partner, AutoBlackBox.

If not, please email our team (cs@pittasoft.com) your camera's serial number and a copy of your receipt for us to verify the distributor/seller. By the way, RMA (Repair/Replacement) requests are being treated slightly differently according to the region. If you have other questions, you can always reach our technical team via email (cs@pittasoft.com). Unfortunately, our Call Center caters only to customers in the North American region (the US and Canada). Thank you!

I'm in California. I had my DR900S-2CH just died after 2 years, it would get warm but camera didn't power on. I contacted BlackVue support for out of warranty repair, they referred me back to BlackBoxMyCar in Canada, they told me I can pay for repair/replacement with refurbished one $175, they'll send to BlackVue may take 3-4 months, I was going to send it in but shipping to Canada would have been $50-175 depending on carrier.

I ditched BlackBoxMyCar and purchased Newly released DR900X-2CH Plus directly from BlackVue. the replacement through Asurion Warranty only costed me ~$45, plus cost of SquareTrade warranty.

I have purchased a lot of stuff from BBMC, after this experience I won't be buying from them again to avoid hassle.

I have a DR900S-2ch, I had it for 1.5 years and it just stopped working.  Everything is fine as far as connections go because I took my other DR900S from my other car and switched it, and it works fine.  So this is how I know its the camera unit and not the wiring or anything else.

I was out of warranty, so they couldn't fix it.

Very unhappy with this product, waste of $500.  It should last for years and seeing all these other people have the same problem is concerning.  Looks like Pittasoft doesn't care since they HQ in Korea and have no repercussion of doing bad business or selling junk products from the US.

I had the exact problem happen to me last week on my 900s. It appears from this thread that the 900 series has a problem and BlackVue must know about it in my opinion. I have an old 750s that is still working that I will use for now but I don’t see any good in buying a new BlackVue camera till they get this fixed. I had actually ordered a new 900x from amazon but when I saw this I immediately canceled it.

My battery died a year and a half ago, had to pay for repair, and it is dead again.

Never again buying a blackvue product.

Also had a fire start in my truck from the fuse tap, but I had 2 taps right next to each other. Can't say for sure which was at fault, but the other item was just 2 led strips that probably didn't draw hardly anything...
