DR900S-2CH - ISSUES

I have 2 issues with my cam :

1. Image issue : On day 1 I noticed an issue when I enable the HDR feature : A BIG red tint comes on screen from time to time. I have found lot of people with the same issue.I noticed that this issue occurs when driving but also in Parking Mode ( timelapse ) => I can't use the HDR mode at all.

I have contacted the Official Distributor for my country ( where I bought it ) immediately : Very difficult to have responses, I had to make a call after 3 weeks without a single response from my emails. He just told me that blackvue is aware and that I need to wait for a firmware upgrade.

=> REALLY ?

2. GPS Issue : Other than previous issue, the cam has been working fine for 10 days. After 10 days, the GPS suddendly stopped working when I was driving on the highway. Just showing -- km/h on the screen since then.

tried to change the card, to check settings, to disable the could, to re-apply the last firmware version, etc...

When I restart the cam the Blue GPS Led blinks, but once the it starts  the recording, the GPS led stays OFF all the time.

I then contacted the official Distributor again who just told me to put the cam somewhere else. HOW COME ? If the Cam's GPS has been working fine for 10 days at this place, there's no reason it's not working anymore other than faulty GPS Unit.

I need a solution to get a fully fonctionnal cam and I feel that Blackvue is just trying to waste my time. I'm having issues with your ( most expensive ) cam since day 1 and nobody cares... I'm considering to open a PayPal case to see what my options are.

I'm really worried that I choose your brand for my first Dashcam.

Ad1: There probably won't be any firmware which will solve this, I reported this issue almost a year ago and i wasn't alone. It's most likely caused by the main chipset hidden behind this part of the cam sensor without heatsink so it overheats everything nearby. Solution? DR900X... xD

Ad2: Have you tried a different location? It could had a weak signal through windshield (some metal-plated ones gives GPS quite hard time) and now it lost it completely. Never seen such issue.

If you have the opportunity, just return it. Even if you get a new one, it will soon or later fail.

    Hi,
for the 1st issue, I'm almost sure it's not linked to a thermal issue
For the GPS one, if it worked fine every single day during 10 days, and suddenly stopped working. The GPS led also completely stopped blinking.
I agree this may fail soon or later, but the 1st issue since day 1 and the GPS isssue 10 days later is not acceptable to me. Even more when I see that Blackvue just try to let me wait for nothing.

What do you make you think the first issue is not heat-related? The pink tint has stable pattern over time, but different across units, yet in the exact same spot, so it doesn't look like a software bug (keep in mind DR900S uses pretty heavy compression on videos...). Not to mention, most of the time it's triggered by amount of light changes in HDR mode. To me, it's just a damaged sensor by excessive heat exposure.

I don't get your "soon or later"&"1 and 10 days" combo. Better soon than later...

DR900X-2CH is now pretty disappointing, it came out too late. I had it for two weeks and returned it because nothing was changed - cloud is the only selling point now and that's quite expensive. And even with CM100, in 25-50% of all attempts to connect to internet failed and needed a reboot.

If Viofo wouldn't be scared of cloud services Blackvue would be miles behind (even thought their A129Pro is a bit buggy).
